The mentoring process
how does it work?
Many fellows and members of the College of Nurses, Aotearoa (NZ) are
experienced nurses who are willing to share their expertise and wisdom
through the College mentoring programme.
Fellows and members wishing to be a mentor complete an expression of
interest form indicating their wish to be involved in the programme
(Appendix 1). No specific qualification's are required however mentors
must be prepared to commit time and energy to the mentoring relationship
and be committed to personal and professional development - their own
and others.
A short profile of all potential mentors can be provided. Contact the
College Office [admim@nurse.org.nz] for more detail.
Members seeking a mentor review the profiles and make contact with
the potential mentor/s of their choice
The mentee and mentor make contact and if they agree to establish a
mentoring relationship they develop an agreement , a sample agreement
is included in appendix 2, feel free to use it or adapt it for your
use.
