Welcome to the Nurse Practitioners New Zealand Website
NPNZ is a forum for New Zealand registered Nurse Practitioners to contribute to individual and national advancement of the NP role. Membership is open to New Zealand registered nurse practitioners.
The purpose of NPNZ is:
- To provide a professional formal network for registered Nurse Practitioners
- To provide a forum where practice direction is debated and formulated on a national level
- To provide a forum to guide and integrate the strategic directions into the context of Nurse Practitioner clinical practice
- To work with and co-ordinate effort with the Nurse Practitioners Advisory Committee of New Zealand
- To provide a forum to contribute the ongoing development of nursing as a discipline
- To act as a source of mentoring and support for all registered Nurse Practitioners in New Zealand
- To link with equivalent Nurse Practitioner forums internationally
- To provide a contact point for key stakeholders
- To provide a framework for supporting and enhancing NP practice on a national level
The NPNZ is chaired by Jenny Phillips
 
Jenny Phillips is a Nurse Practitioner Wound Care.
Jenny has held a long standing passion for caring for people with lower limb injuries and for advancing the practise of nurses in tissue viability care. Her employment is diverse working for:
- Health Care New Zealand,
- MidCentral District Health Board as Nurse Leader for Tissue Viability Service
- Massey University as a Senior Lecturer

THE NURSE PRACTITIONER ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF NEW ZEALAND (NPAC-NZ)
 
The focus of NPAC-NZ is to work with the profession and the Nursing Council of New Zealand on matters relating to the registration of Nurse Practitioners and the development of the Nurse Practitioner model in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Key objectives of NPAC-NZ are:
- Commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi – partnership, participation and protection. These will underpin the developments and outcomes of the work of the committee.
- Provide leadership for the review and development of the Nurse Practitioner processes and scopes of practice.
- Identify research priorities and promote research and evaluation related to the Nurse Practitioner role and its development.
- Make recommendations to the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
- Provide a leadership role and engage with the wider nursing community on issues relating to the strategic development of the Nurse Practitioner model in New Zealand.
