AMRF-funded researchers from The University of Auckland will discuss the latest advances in heart health and how their current and future research can help ensure our good cardiovascular health. Topics will include:

  • Atrial fibrillation
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke

Speakers:

  • A/Prof Johanna Montgomery from the Dept. of Physiology: “Little brains” are brain cells on the heart’s surface. Understanding how they work may lead to reducing a prevalence of stroke and dementia. 
  • Professor Julian Patton in the Dept. of Physiology: One in three New Zealanders have high blood pressure, which can cause stroke, kidney and heart failure. Why do people become hypertensive & what research is key to help stop it?
