Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

Wairau Hospital Theatre Suite consists of five Operating Theatres with a Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and Day Stay Unit.

We have a range of positions available, based in the main theatre department, where we provide public acute and elective services, as well as private cases. Shifts are rostered Monday-Sunday, with on call after hours and at the weekends.

Surgical specialties covered include: General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental and Acute/Trauma.

Opportunities include:

  • Permanent 0.8 to 1.0FTE positions (64 hours to 80 hours a fortnight).
  • Temporary 0.6 to 0.9FTE positions (48 hours to 72 hours a fortnight) covering parental leave.

Ideally, you will be an experienced Registered or Enrolled Theatre nurse or RN Assistant to Anaesthetist (RNAA) with the ability to care for patients undergoing a variety of acute and elective surgical procedures.

Team work is key in the operating theatre, so you will need to be a team-player with a collaborative attitude towards patient care.

The full-time equivalent salary range for a Registered Nurse is $64,291 through to $83,186 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.

The full-time equivalent salary range for an Enrolled Nurse is is $54,432 to $62,847, based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
