About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced clinical expertise and leadership in the provision of physical healthcare to turoro in the acute and subacute mental health units in Whangarei. You will provide turoro-focused care and coordination that will optimise their journey and improve health outcomes for those admitted to Tumanako and/or He Manu Pae. This advanced nursing role works autonomously and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary model ensuring that turoro receiving care and treatment realise the best outcomes including achieving their treatment goals, reducing length of stay and successful transition back to the community setting.

Tumanako is a 29 bed purpose built unit at Whangarei Hospital that cares for adults over the age of 18 who live in the Northland area. He Manu Pae is a 6 bed sub-acute unit based in a community setting. At both units we provide a full range of mental health and alcohol and drug services including assessment, group therapy, family/whānau and individual interventions.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a clinical setting
  • Experience with client/clinical case management and service coordination
  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership style that can relate to diverse groups of people and professional disciplines
  • Current annual practicing certificate
