We are seeking a Rural District Nurse to join our mission of providing exceptional healthcare services to our rural community.
Position:
Job Title: Part time Rural District Nurse
Part-Time Schedule: 0.5 FTE Monday/Wednesday/Friday plus after-hours callouts
Location: Our clinic is based in Mōkau

Your Role as a Rural District Nurse:
As a Rural District Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering healthcare services to rural communities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting patient assessments and developing personalised care plans
- Providing wound care, medication management, and health education
- Palliative care – including after-hours visits
- Walk-in clinics, plus home visits as required
- Collaborating with local healthcare providers for comprehensive care
- Bringing comfort, compassion, and expertise to patients in rural areas
- Take a leading role in the Mōkau clinic and work closely with management
Qualifications & Experience:
- To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- A current practice certificate and relevant certifications – qualified registered nurse with a minimum of 5-years’ experience
- Registered Nurse Prescriber in Community Health qualification an advantage
- Previous experience in District Nursing is desirable
- Relevant clinical competencies include: syringe driver management, compression bandaging, IV certification and wound management
- General all-round nursing an advantage
- Hold a valid, clean New Zealand full driver’s licence
- Applicants should exhibit excellent time management skills and proficient computer skills.
- Be able to work independently and show initiative in problem solving
- Genuine compassion and empathy for rural patients
- Strong communication skills and a knack for building patient trust
- Adaptability to rural healthcare challenges
