2026 Online: CLINICAL PRACTICE COURSE


                In 2026 NPNZ will be offering an online course in Aged Residential Care


COURSE INFORMATION:

The NPNZ Aged Resident Care course will provide you with a wide range of knowledge and skills to support your everyday clinical practice. Delivered online, this course has been designed to reduce geographical barriers around accessing high quality professional education. Offered in 2 hourly classes each fortnight between February and July 2026, participants can expect to expand their minds, develop their thinking and have some fun in a supportive learning environment. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate in Aged Residential Care and a credit of 20hours of continuing professional development. Join us for a comprehensive educational journey into the specialty of Aged Residential Care.

 

 COURSE FACILITATOR:        

 

          DR MICHAL BOYD 
          DR MICHAL BOYD 

Dr Michal Boyd is an Associate Professor with the School of Nursing at Auckland University and collaborates with the Department of Geriatric Medicine. She also maintains a practice as a Nurse Practitioner for Older Adults. Her main research interests are the proactive assessment and care coordination of complex older adults who live in the community and residential aged care facilities. She specialises in dementia, frailty and palliative care for older people and the development of advanced nursing practice. She was primary investigator for End of Life with Dementia Research (ELDER) funded through MBIE National Science Challenge-Ageing Well. She has also investigated frailty and cognitive impairment management in primary care. She was co-investigator for the HRC funded “Aged Residential Care Healthcare Utilisation Study (ARCHUS)” with the Freemasons’ Dept. of Geriatric Medicine. She collaborated with Professor Martin Connolly on the HRC partnership grant to implement ARCHUS findings (Aged Residential Care Healthcare Implementation Project (ARCHIP).
