Membership

Our membership is open to all Registered Nurses, offering a range of benefits including access to our professional publications, involvement with a dynamic network of professional nurses, and opportunities to contribute to relevant submissions. We also offer additional benefits for our Fellows, recognising them as leaders in their specific field of nursing.

Categories of Membership

The College of Nurses Aotearoa (NZ) Inc. offers a variety of membership categories, each designed to meet the unique needs of our diverse nursing community. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, a part-time worker or a retired nurse, we have a membership category tailored for you. 

Fellows

Registered Nurses with 5 Years practice experience who are able to demonstrate an exceptional contribution to nursing.

Members

College Membership is available to all Registered Nurses. Discounted rates apply for the following membership categories - (Evidence is required annually for all discounted categories.)

  • Part Time - employed under 20 hrs per week, employer verification required.

  • RN in full time study - (Post graduate students) verification required from tertiary provider.

  • Retired (Non Working) Members - not covered by Indemnity Insurance(Non working members returning to work must inform the college to re-instate your Insurance cover).

  • No Insurance required - If you are adequately covered by another professional organisation an annual discount applies. Please enquire with the College office.

For all discounted rates - The onus is on the member to update the college office on any change in work situation that may affect their discounted fees. Indemnity insurance cover will be seriously affected if a member is not paying the correct fees for their situation. PART TIME - employed 20 HRS OR LESS PER WEEK, employer verification required with application and annually thereafter. (Nurses studying but still working at or under 20 hrs per week are in this category) RN IN FULL TIME STUDY (Post Graduate) - Qualified Registered Nurses not currently employed & returning to full time study, verification required from tertiary provider on application and annually thereafter. INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS - Available for members who reside outside new Zealand - No Insurance Cover is available to international members. All other publications and online communications remain the same.

** Retired Members

no insurance cover is provided for retired members. Members returning to work must inform the college office to re-instate your Insurance cover.

*** Indemnity Insurance Cover

is assured within New Zealand providing members hold a current APC and / or appropriate qualification or training for related work at the time of any claim.

Dual Professional Membership Discount

College members paying regular or Fellowship fees may choose to opt out of Indemnity Insurance Cover provided with their College Membership if they hold dual membership with another professional organisation (eg. NZNO) who also provides adequate Indemnity Insurance cover for registered nurses. Please contact the College office for details.
