Introduction
Tena Koe.
I have worked in primary health care and Maori health for the last 14 years. This includes community nursing with whanau health across the lifespan and health promotion, delivering Hui and nursing clinics. I moved into a Clinical Nurse Leader role in 2014 and work with a team of Social Workers, Nurses, Alcohol and Drug Counsellors, CAMHS Clinicians, Mental Health Clinicians, Navigators (support people), a Dietitian and Nurse Practitioner. I became interested in supervision after having a number of supervisors from varying backgrounds and styles. In 2014 I completed a Post Grad Cert in Supervision. I have now set up a private practice and I am currently working with a group of supervisors in Nelson to set up a Professional Supervisors Group to support and develop supervisors and make it easier for supervisees to connect with supervisors.
I am passionate about self-care for nurses and believe that supervision prevents burn out, releases pressure and allows a space/time dedicated to the supervisee to discuss and explore, think, reflect and celebrate their practice.
I offer my first meeting free of charge to discuss the individual requirements of the supervisee. This ensures all expectations, conflicts of interest and confidentiality issues are discussed and understood prior to starting an individual session. Prior to starting an individual session I have a contract that is discussed and agreed to by all parties that defines supervision goals and responsibilities.
I have lived in the Nelson/Marlborough region most of my life. I am married and have a 10 year old son. I work part-time at Te Piki Oranga as a Clinical Nurse Leader and part-time providing professional supervision for nurses and those in the caring profession.
I am inspired by nursing and the development of nurses. I work as a supervisor to support nursing standards, protect professional practice, guide reflection and learning so that growth can occur in a professional and personal way. I believe that on-going supervision develops better people, better nurses and a better healthcare experience. I invite you to give me a call.
