Kia ora my name is Erin and I am a Simulation Nurse Educator for the Douglas Starship Simulation Programme, which I absolutely love. I have been in this role since 2019 and regularly debrief and teach debriefers as well. The role is vast and broad in regards to education for all specialities on a national and international level. 

Prior to my Nursing Education role I worked for 5 years in Nursing Management as a Clinical Charge Nurse for a large Emergency Department and also Clinical Nurse Manager for inpatient and community services in a small town of New Zealand. I have my Masters of Nursing including prescribing practicum. I have worked as an Emergency Department Nurse since 2008 and still do some clinical work now in this setting.

My professional focus is on supervisee’s reaching their true potential which is authentic and meaningful to them. Protection of health, wellness and boundaries to enable professional success is also important to me in the assistance of others in their true success. I am incredibly passionate about the growth of the next generation of nursing leadership through reflection, empowerment and encouragement. 

For me, supervision is a curated psychologically safe and respectful space of reflection driven by the supervisee. As your supervisor I will guide your reflection and encourage this safe space to blossom to an environment for which you discover skills and answers to drive yourself forward with confidence. I am incredibly passionate about these spaces being available for nurses to reflect and grow in their roles with honour.
