Nestle Alfamino recall

We are contacting you about the recent Alfamino Infant Formula recall.

Alfamino is a specialist infant formula for babies with allergies or gastrointestinal disorders. It is largely a prescribed product and is not available in supermarkets.

The affected batches of Alfamino Infant Formula are:

  • Batch number 51070017Y2, use-by date 17.04.2027

  • Batch number 51080017Y1, use-by date 18.04.2027

  • Batch number 51480017Y3, use-by date 28.05.2027

  • Batch number 51490017Y1, use-by date 29.05.2027

  • Batch number 52030017Y1, use-by date 22.07.2027

If you hold stock of this product, please check your own stocks and contact your supplier or wholesaler to arrange a credit note if you have affected product.

Where no stock of Alfamino is available, patients will require a new prescription for an alternative similar product. This should be discussed with their usual prescriber (such as their GP or dietitian) and include transition and preparation instructions for a suitable alternative product. A new special authority number is not required.

Two other products are available and are also funded by Pharmac, which may be suitable alternatives:

  • Neocate Gold

  • Neocate SYNEO

The Elecare Infant Formula continues to have supply issues and is not available as an alternative.

We are working with Nestle to have new, unaffected batches of Alfamino Infant Formula airfreighted to New Zealand as quickly as possible.

This issue does not affect any other special foods supplied by Nestle or other special foods from other suppliers in New Zealand.

If you have any questions about the product recall, contact Nestle directly on 0800 864 685.

If you have any questions about the alternative products, please contact our enquiries team on 0800 660 050.

Nga mihi
