Insulin syringes: BD brand is moving to Embecta


The BD brand of insulin syringes is being rebranded as “Embecta”. It is the same product, but the box looks different. The website has example pictures showing the change of in appearance of the boxes.



Promethazine 25 mg per ml, 2 ml ampoule


All stock of this product in New Zealand (Pharmacode: 722952) is short-dated. A section 29 alternative has been listed.



Temozolomide (Temaccord) 5 mg capsules


Due to a shipping delay, Temaccord 5 mg capsules (Pharmacode: 2388278) will be temporarily out of stock during July. A S29 alternative was listed from 1 July. An example of the label is available on the website.

Candesartan (Candestar) all strengths tablets


There is limited supply of all strengths of candesartan tablets. The supplier is receiving small shipments of the alternative brands and releasing them as soon as they can. In particular, supply of the 4 mg may be very limited.

The website has been updated with pictures of all temporary brands.



Desmopressin acetate (Minirin) 100 mcg tablets

Levothyroxine (Mercury Pharma) 50 mcg tablets


Stock of Mercury Pharma's levothyroxine 50 mcg tablets (Pharmacode: 2307766) have now arrived and been released to wholesalers



Lorazepam (Ativan) 1 mg tab


The shipment of lorazepam 1 mg tablets (Pharmacode: 2139022) arrived late June.

Clinical advice from NZSSD and the Diabetes National Clinical Network (Mahitahi Matehuka) recommending patient groups who should be prioritised for the limited TruSteel stock.



Ursodeoxycholic acid (Ursosan) 250 mg capsules


A shipment of Ursosan (Pharmacode: 2397528) has arrived. Wholesalers may require any stock of Apo-Ursodeoxycholic Acid to be used up before Ursosan is available. The Apo product will remain funded for some time to allow pharmacists to dispense and claim for it.
