Proposal to change funding criteria and supply arrangements for antiretroviral medicines used to treat HIV

Pharmac is now consulting publicly on a proposal to remove Special Authority Hospital Induction criteria for all funded antiretroviral medicines for HIV.

I know this will be of interest to you and your networks, and I invite you to share this information so that as many people as possible are able to provide feedback.

Consultation opens today and closes at 4pm on 20 October 2025. More information about Pharmac’s proposal, including how to provide feedback, is available here

After we have considered the feedback received in the public consultation, Pharmac will make a decision on the proposal. If approved, we expect at this stage that the changes will be implemented from 1 December 2025.
