New community medicine notices

Fluticasone (Flixotide Accuhaler) 50 mcg The supplier is out of stock of the 50 mcg Flixotide Accuhaler (Pharmacode: 402958). People will need a new prescription for an alternative. Resupply is expected by the end of September.

Glucose [Dextrose] (Biomed) Inj 50%, 10 ml ampoule (Pharmacode 2243296) Biomed is out of stock of the 10 ml amp. The 90 ml bottle (Pharmacode: 2245833) is still available. Resupply is expected in September.

Sodium bicarbonate (Biomed) Inj 8.4%, 100 ml Biomed is running low on the 50 ml inj (Pharmacode: 2244152) and 100 ml inj (Pharmacode: 2244144) sodium bicarbonate. Stock is expected to be available again by the end of September.

Sodium chloride (Biomed) nebulising solution 7%, 90 ml (Pharmacode: 2378701) Biomed is out of stock of this product. Stock is expected to be available again by the end of September.

COVID-19 antiviral changes

Antiviral access criteria changed from 1 September. Changes for supply start from 1 September for remdesivir and 1 October 2025 for Paxlovid.

Updated notices

Calcitonin (Miacalcic) Inj 100 iu per ml, 1 ml ampoule (Pharmacode: 2548356) the supplier expects stock to arrive by mid-September.

Compounded oral liquids containing carboxymethylcellulose Stock of all products is available, however there's limited stock of dexamethasone (Pharmacode 344842) and omeprazole oral liquids. More stock is being made.

Fexofenadine (Fexaclear) 120 mg tablet (Pharmacode: 2711222) Details for the new look packaging have been added, including a flyer. Stock is expected to arrive around mid-September.

Hydrocortisone butyrate (Locoid products) 0.1%: Currently all presentations, except the ointment, are available with the supplier.

Mesalazine 400 mg and 800 mg tablets (Asacol) (Pharmacodes: 2470616 and 2536552) Stock of the 800 mg is now being limited by the supplier (on allocation). Pharmac is investigating alternative options.

Methylphenidate: Supply issue This update applies to stock holding at thesupplier. Due to strict allocation, supply might be inconsistent across the supply chain.

Concerta: All strengths available
Ritalin: All strengths available
Rubifen: All strengths and presentations available.
Teva: No stock available

Nortriptyline Norpress 10 mg(Pharmacode: 2090678) The supplier is running very low on stock. The supplier aims to have stock arrive in New Zealand by the week beginning 8 September.

Oxycodone (Oxycodone Amneal) 5, 10, and 20 mg tabs immediate release tablets Wellmed advises that the next delivery for all three strengths is expected in September. Stock of the 10 and 20 mg strengths are expected to last until that shipment arrives. The 5 mg is out of stock.Sodium Fusidate [fusidic acid] (Fucithalmic) Eye drops 1% The Fucithalmic brand of eyedrops has been registered by Medsafe. Delivery of the NZ-registered product is expected in December 2025.Venlafaxine (Enlafax XR 150 mg) (Pharmacode: 2509237) Stock has arrived with the supplier. It will take another 1 to 2 weeks to reach pharmacies around New Zealand Aotearoa.
