Proposal to improve access to medicines for people with high blood pressure and bacterial infections
Pharmac is seeking feedback on a proposal to widen and simplify access to four medicines for people with high blood pressure and bacterial infections.Pharmac is proposing to:
Fund ceftolozane with tazobactam for people with serious multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.
Widen access to two medicines, bedaquiline and linezolid, for people with non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, which are rare and difficult-to-treat bacterial infections.
Widen access to captopril oral liquid for people with spinal cord injuries who experience episodes of dangerously high blood pressure.
Consultation is open until 5pm, Tuesday 29 September 2026.
