Consultation: PSO medicine and rule changes


Give your feedback on a proposal to expand the Practitioner Supply Order (PSO) list and to amend the Schedule General Rules to clarify the intended use of PSO supplies from 1 November 2026.


This proposal draws on evidence from a one-year pilot in which some non‑rural general practices accessed a wider range of PSO medicines.



New medicine supply notices


Dexcom G6 CGM being retired


Dexcom G6 (Pharmacode 2679795) will stop being funded in early 2027. People will need to a Dexcom G7 or Freestyle Libre 3 Plus. Resources are available on our website.



Erythromycin (as lactobionate) inj 1g vial


Due to manufacturing delays, Erythromycin (as lactobionate) inj 1g vial (Pharmacode: 2270234) is low in stock.



Sildenafil (Vedafil) 25 and 50 mg tablets


There is a supply issue affecting both strengths of sildenafil tablets (Pharmacodes 25 mg 2377764 | 50 mg 2377780). An alternative has been funded for the 50 mg strength, we are working on funding a 25 mg alternative. The supplier is asking pharmacies to prioritise people who access funded sildenafil.



Tetracycline 250mg tablet


Accord S29 (Pharmacode 2587106) is no longer available. Tetracycline AA (S29) (Pharmacode 2734575) is the new funded brand.



Updated medicine supply notices


Colestyramine (Mylan): Supply constraint


Viatris, the supplier, advises that it has stock of Colestyramine - Mylan (Pharmacode 2662000) available and is expecting another shipment in August. Questran Light (Pharmacode 2700026) will remain funded to ensure continuity of supply.



Methylphenidate: Supply issue


All strengths of all brands are available, however the 18 mg Teva brand is running low on stock.
