Nurse Practitioner - Fully Remote Telehealth (New Zealand)

Tere Health is a new NZ-owned tele-emergent service built for people who can't easily reach a clinic - rural and remote communities, shift workers, and after-hours patients. We're looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical team on a contract basis and provide autonomous, full-scope care to patients across New Zealand, from wherever you are.

We work around your time, not the business's. Our real mission is access: reaching people who otherwise wouldn't be seen. You won't be ticking scripts - you'll often be the first clinician a patient has been able to reach.

What we offer

  • Fully remote: practise from anywhere in NZ, no commute, no onsite requirement — with clear escalation pathways (111, nearest ED, local services) for acute presentations

  • You set your own availability: you choose which sessions you hold and when - we work around your time, not the other way around.

  • Paid per consultation, at a rate that reflects a thorough, unhurried assessment - there's no target to hit and no pressure to rush; escalating or referring a patient is always the right call and is expected. Rate discussed early (GST-exclusive; you invoice as a contractor)

  • A modern clinical platform we built ourselves: AI-assisted note drafting with your sign-off, tools to support cross-language consults, integrated e-prescribing, and referral workflows

  • Full prescribing within your scope: with one clear boundary: Tere does not prescribe controlled drugs, opioids, benzodiazepines, GLP-1 receptor agonists, stimulants or hypnotics. These are enforced at the platform level, so you're never the one under pressure to prescribe them

  • Real clinical variety across rural, cross-cultural and after-hours populations

  • Regular peer review and multidisciplinary case discussions

  • Support with continuing professional development

What you'll bring

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Nurse Practitioner

  • Current Annual Practising Certificate

  • Confident autonomous practice within your full NP scope - diagnosis, investigations, prescribing and referral

  • Comfortable practising via telehealth (training and onboarding provided if you're new to it)

  • The ability to work as an independent contractor (your own GST/ACC/tax arrangements)

  • Strong communication skills, cultural competence, and a person-centred approach

  • Interest in rural, cross-cultural, or after-hours patient populations

Let's kōrero

Whether you're ready to apply or just exploring - we'd love to hear from you. No pressure, and no long process to start a conversation.
