Join us at Wakefield Specialist Centre and support a busy gynaecology specialist in delivering exceptional patient care. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with patients throughout their treatment journey while enjoying the benefits of regular weekday hours in a specialist healthcare environment.

You'll provide a combination of clinical nursing care, patient coordination and practice administration, ensuring a seamless experience for patients from initial consultation through to post-operative recovery.


The role


This is a varied role where no two days are the same. Working closely with the Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting patients through consultation, treatment and recovery.


Key responsibilities include:


  • supporting patients through pre-operative and post-operative care

  • assisting with patient assessments, education and clinical support

  • coordinating referrals, investigations and follow-up appointments

  • managing bookings, patient enquiries, phone calls and emails

  • maintaining accurate clinical documentation and records

  • liaising with patients, GPs, hospital teams and external healthcare providers

  • supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice

  • delivering a professional and compassionate patient experience.


This is a permanent position for 80 hours per fortnight and is located at Wakefield Hospital in Newtown, Wellington.


About you


We're looking for an experienced and organised nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced specialist environment.


You'll bring:


  • current NZ Nursing Council registration and Annual Practising Certificate (APC)

  • previous experience in gynaecology nursing

  • experience supporting patients through pre and post-operative care

  • strong clinic administration experience

  • excellent planning and organisational skills

  • strong computer and digital literacy skills

  • exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • a positive, proactive and patient-focused approach.
