This is a unique opportunity to work closely with patients throughout their treatment journey while enjoying the benefits of regular weekday hours in a specialist healthcare environment.
You'll provide a combination of clinical nursing care, patient coordination and practice administration, ensuring a seamless experience for patients from initial consultation through to post-operative recovery.
The role
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. Working closely with the Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting patients through consultation, treatment and recovery.
Key responsibilities include:
supporting patients through pre-operative and post-operative care
assisting with patient assessments, education and clinical support
coordinating referrals, investigations and follow-up appointments
managing bookings, patient enquiries, phone calls and emails
maintaining accurate clinical documentation and records
liaising with patients, GPs, hospital teams and external healthcare providers
supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice
delivering a professional and compassionate patient experience.
This is a permanent position for 80 hours per fortnight and is located at Wakefield Hospital in Newtown, Wellington.
About you
We're looking for an experienced and organised nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced specialist environment.
You'll bring:
current NZ Nursing Council registration and Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
previous experience in gynaecology nursing
experience supporting patients through pre and post-operative care
strong clinic administration experience
excellent planning and organisational skills
strong computer and digital literacy skills
exceptional written and verbal communication skills
high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
a positive, proactive and patient-focused approach.
