About the role


Ostend Medical Centre, part of the Waiheke Health Trust, is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team on the idyllic Waiheke Island, Auckland. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and compassionate healthcare to our local community. This flexible role (24-40 hours per week) offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative interdisciplinary environment, delivering a wide range of primary care services to patients.


What you'll be doing


  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic health conditions

  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments

  • Provide routine, equitable preventive care and health education to patients

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care

  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records

  • Participate in quality and equity improvement initiatives, contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures, and work as a member of the Clinical Governance leadership team

  • Participate in relevant ongoing professional development

  • Provide clinical leadership to the primary and community nursing teams of the Waiheke Health Trust


What we're looking for


  • Registered Nurse Practitioner with a current NZ practicing certificate

  • Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in a primary care, rural medicine or community-based acute care setting

  • Strong clinical skills and decision-making abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated experience in providing equitable patient education and health promotion

  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic, community-based healthcare environment

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
