The Opportunity


We are seeking one compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (Practice Nurse) to join our nursing and wider hauora team on a 0.8–1.0 FTE basis.


This role is central to the delivery of holistic primary care, supporting patients across acute, long‑term, and preventative health needs. You will work closely with General Practitioners, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator, and the broader practice team to deliver mana‑enhancing, patient‑centred care and improve health outcomes for our enrolled population.

 

 

Key Responsibilities


The Practice Nurse will:


  • Provide a full range of primary health nursing services, including acute, long‑term, and preventative care

  • Deliver culturally safe, patient‑centred care that recognises the needs of individuals and whānau

  • Support health promotion, education, and patient self‑management

  • Administer treatments, medications, and vaccinations within scope of practice

  • Contribute to care planning, referrals, and multidisciplinary decision‑making

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold confidentiality and patient rights

  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety activities

  • Support the smooth day‑to‑day functioning of the practice

 

What We Are Looking For


  • Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of New Zealand

  • Experience working in a primary care or team‑based health environment

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills

  • Commitment to culturally safe practice and improving health equity

  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Sound clinical judgement, organisation, and time‑management skills

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including PDRP

 

Desirable (but not essential):


  • Immunisation certification

  • CPR Level 4

  • Experience or training in long‑term conditions, women’s health, cervical screening, or smoking cessation

 

Pre‑Employment Requirements


Appointment to this role is subject to:


  • Verification of current eligibility to work in New Zealand

  • Satisfactory police screening in line with health sector requirements
