More training places for NPTP for 2023

We are delighted to announce that a larger consortium of universities will now be funded to provide the final year of NP education (the NPTP) with increased places becoming available.

Te Whatu Ora will fund an additional 22 places for 2023 and a further 28 for 2024. This will give a total of 100 funded NP training places for 2024.

Massey University will join the existing collaborative of the University of Auckland, the University of Otago, and Victoria University of Wellington for next year’s intake. Auckland University of Technology and the University of Waikato will follow at a later date.

The consortium will work closely with all providers of NP education across Aotearoa to ensure all students who are eligible and ready to complete their final advanced practicum year can apply to the consortium university of their choice.

The first round of applications for NPTP closed, as advertised, on 5 September 2022 for those students already enrolled in a master’s programme with Auckland, Otago, and Victoria.

A second round of applications is now open and closes on 24 October 2022. This second round is for students – from Massey, AUT, EIT, Ara, and Wintec - who are ready and eligible to enter their final year of NP training.

The requirements for application to the NPTP and application form are available on https://www.forms.auckland.ac.nz/en/public/fmhs/nptp.html where students will be first asked to select the university of their choice.

Additional support is available for Māori, and Pacific trainees.
