Educational Series: Diabetes management during Ramadan

This publication is an educational resource for health professionals focussing on diabetes management for patients wishing to fast during the holy month of Ramadan. The importance of the pre-Ramadan diabetes assessment is emphasised, as is the need to stratify individual risk because this will form the basis for shared decision-making and any dose adjustments for glucose-lowering therapies. To ensure safe fasting, healthcare professionals need to understand the importance of Ramadan and to collaborate with religious communities to educate patients. Ramadan 2023 will begin on Wednesday, 22 March and ends on the evening of Thursday, 20 April. This resource was produced with an unrestricted educational grant from Boehringer Ingelheim and Eli Lilly.
