Korero mo te turanga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Nurse Practitioner to join the Mauri Ora Student Health and Counselling team on a permanent basis. This is a clinical role, working with our awesome team of General Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Support staff to contribute to the delivery of effective quality primary care to Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington Students in a challenging and yet very rewarding environment. You will also work closely with Student Counselling, Health Improvement Practitioners, the Health Coach and other Student Support teams.

O pumanawa - About you

Ideally, you will have the following:

  • A current Annual Practising Certificate within the scope of Nurse Practitioner
  • Broad experience in a primary health care setting
  • Experience in triaging and assessment of acute needs
  • Experience in sexual health and contraception would be an advantage
  • Empathy and interest in working with a diverse student population
  • Experience and interest in working in Maori and Pasifika health an advantage
  • A genuine interest in younger people's health care needs
  • Familiarity and competence using Primary Care Medical Records Software (Indici)
  • Evidence of satisfactory current medical indemnity (NZNO or equivalent cover)
  • A current CPR certificate

We are part of the Tu Ora Compass Primary Healthcare Network and around 9,000 of our students are enrolled patients. We also work with a diverse group of 2,500 international students. Never a dull moment in this vibrant community.

This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
